Why is that conservatives tout American exceptionalism whenever they criticize Obama? They whine about Obama and his apology tours and how he hates America. However, the American exceptionalism idea stops abruptly at the door of governance. Somehow, American exceptionalism does not extend into the running of government. All of a sudden Americans are ineffective and that exceptionalism just doesn’t exist anymore.
How can the American ingenuity only exist in a vacuum and only display itself when it comes to the private sector? Far as I know the defense department is government run. We have the best military in the world. NASA is government run and we have the best space program and landed on the moon.
If conservatives believe in American exceptionalism than they must truly believe that we as a people can elect representatives, the best and brightest, to develop, implement and run the best programs and have the best government in the world. How can you tear down our government run by our very own American citizens and denounce are government (as displayed in recent protests) yet still use the American exceptionalism idea to tout as a conservative value to use against the left. It makes no sense.
